Question:
Just bought used trailer with missing pads. How far apart should screws be placed inwhen installing trailer pads. Do only the four corners need to be secured? If I want to add plywood to back of pads ... how thick and will the screws that you recommend be adequate? Interior of trailer is wood.

When replacing your horse trailer pads, be sure to pad all dividers and walls. The pads are constructed of a very durable vinyl sewn over 2" of foam onto rigid cardboard. They stand the test of time and hold up in all climates. There is no need to add additional backing to the pads, but if you choose to do so, you can mount them to 1/4" plywood and then mount them to the walls of your trailer.
The pads are surrounded by a 1" border where there is no padding. This is where you will want to mount the screws. If your pad is 12", you can secure it in just the 4 corners. For a 24" pad, I recommend using 8 screws. The manufacturer suggests having one screw every 8 to 12 inches as you get into the larger 40' or 60' pads.
Redline's trailer Horse Pad Screws, # PS-8 are designed for mounting surfaces under 1" thick. They include washers and will mount the pads to any wood, steel or aluminum surface. With or without adding the 1/4" plywood these will be sufficient to mount the pads to your trailer walls.
