Recommended Flat Towing System For 2014 Jeep Wrangler Sport

Updated 08/02/2017 | Published 07/31/2017

Question:

Hello I have a 2014 jeep wrangler sport with factory bumpers, I will be pulling the jeep with my 2005 dodge 3500 diesel. What baseplate do I need and I would like the stow master tow hitch. Do I need a receiver tow bar or can I use a 2inch coupler ball? I would prefer the 2inch ball coupler.

For your 2014 Jeep Wrangler Sport, I recommend the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM-521448-4. This will work well with the Roadmaster Tracker Tow Bar - 2" Ball - 5,000 lbs # RM-020 that has a 2 inch ball coupler.

For your tow bar wiring, I recommend the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # HM56200. This will give you a 4-way flat connection at the front of your Jeep.

For your braking system which is required in most states, I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # SM99251. This system will allow your Wrangler Sport to brake at the same time and with the same intensity as your Dodge truck. It only needs adjustment at install and then becomes and plug and play system. Based on your vehicle wiring, you will also need the RoadMaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751452 for this braking system to function correctly.
