Question:
I just purchased a coachman trailblazer 26th toy hauler. My mom is 79 and lives with me. Dad died 2 yrs ago from brain ca. The bottom step is to high for her. The box is 26 1/4 wide and the distance to the ground is 26 to 30 inch depending on the parking spot level. I need more stable steps for her safety. Do you have any suggestions.

It sounds like going from the existing 2 step assembly on your Coachmen Trailblazer Toy Hauler to a 3 step assembly will be the best option for reducing the height of the first step. I recommend looking at the TorkLift GlowStep Revolution Scissor Steps # TLA8103. This 3 step assembly has a mounting base dimension of 25-7/16 inches wide and 12 inches deep, which is the closest box dimension to the measurement you provided that we currently have available. This is an extremely nice system that features a release lever for easy operation and glow tape on the steps to provided a lighted surface for nighttime use. A compatible Handrail # TLA7621 can also be added.
I have attached a video demonstration on this product so you can see exactly how it will work.
Another option that will allow you to keep the existing steps on your toy hauler is a sturdy platform step like the Stromberg Carlson # S-150. This is a nice, compact step with a non-skid surface and an adjustable height from 4 inches to 8 inches. The step can simply be placed on the ground before the first step on your toy hauler to bridge the gap and make for easier climbing. This also features a nice foldable design for simple storage when not in use. The step itself weighs only 16 pounds.
I have also provided a video demonstration on this product for you to check out.
