Item # RM-048-6 is designed to flat tow a vehicle only and is not rated for use for towing a trailer so I cannot recommend it.

It sounds like you are using a weight distribution system and will need a shank that has more drop than the one you have now. If that is the case we do have other shanks with more drop you could use. If you can tell me which weight distribution system you have and how much drop you need (see linked help article) I can make some recommendations.
