I JUST BOUGHT A NEW 2017 GMC 2500 TRUCK WITH REGULAR BOX WILL THIS UNIT WORK.

Nice truck! I'm jealous. And the Thule Insta-Gater Pro Truck Bed Single Bike Rack Item # TH93VR is going to look great in the bed because yes, it does indeed fit your 2017 GMC Sierra 2500! I linked a video featuring this rack on a 2016 Silverado and it will be similar on your truck. Provided that your bike fits in the truck bed with the tail gate closed it will still fit when using the Insta-Gater.
