Recommended Boat Tie-Down Straps for 2,200 Pound Boat on 600 Pound Trailer
Updated 06/27/2017 | Published 06/26/2017 >
Question:
I have a 1993 Glastron 175 Elite which is 2,200 pounds. The trailer is probably 400-600 pounds. What should the load rating be on the transom tie-downs for this combination? Is 1,000 LBS for 2 straps good or should it be more?

Expert Reply:
Going with tie-downs that have around a 1,000 pound break strength like the BoatBuckle Pro Series Ratcheting Transom Tie-Down Straps # IMF18740 will work great with your boat and trailer. Typically when choosing boat tie-down straps, you will want a strap with a break strength capacity that exceeds the weight of your trailer (or the lightest object). Since your trailer is between 400-600 pounds, these straps will be perfect.
The strap dimensions are 1 inch wide and 3 inches long. The maximum load strength (break strength) is 1,200 pounds and will include 2 transom straps.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this product as well as a link that will take you to our available selection of boat tie-downs for you to look through.
