Is Removing Hub From Trailer Axle Easy
Updated 06/09/2017 | Published 06/08/2017 >
Question:
How hard is it to separate the trailer hub from the drum? Do you need to separate them with a shop press ? I was thinking about buying a spare hub for emergencies I may encounter on the road.

The part # 8-213-5UC1-EZ is an idler hub, but since it is not intended for brakes it does not have a drum attached to it that it can can be separated from. If instead you are asking how hard it is to remove the hub from the axle, the answer is it's pretty easy. It's pretty much removing a cotter pin, unscrewing the castle nut, and then sliding the hub off.
I attached an install video that shows how to easily install and remove a trailer hub as well.
