Recommendation For Painting Plastic Trailer Fenders

Question:

I want to paint my black fenders a Matt Black finish. Generally, painting plastic and Not having it peel off is a difficult . Do you know if this fender #F008559 can be painted and if so, any suggestions on paint type or quality?

The Single Axle Trailer Fender w Top Step - Style B - Black Plastic - 8" to 12" Wheels - Qty 1 # F008559 can be painted, but there is some work to do with painting plastic as you stated. To paint it so it won't peel, you will need to wet sand it to scratch up the finish so it can hold paint. Usually you can do this with 1000 grit sand paper making sure you get every inch of the fender. Then use a primer and then paint in a couple coats. I like Rustoleum outdoor spray paint which you can find at most local stores that sell paint. If you take your time and do it right, you will have a factory looking finish that will last for a fairly small price tag.
