Question:

The custom flat bed trailer has a V5 2FJ 6,000 lb rating. What ball size is required? Thanks

To determine what size hitch ball you will need to pull your custom flat bed trailer, you will just need to look at the coupler on the trailer. Typically, the size hitch ball needed will be stamped into the coupler's metal housing or listed on a safety sticker.

Once you find the hitch ball size you need, you will also need to check the ball shank diameter to ensure that it will fit the ball hole on your ball mount. Lastly, you will just choose a hitch ball that has at least a 6,000 pound weight capacity to use with your 6,000 pound trailer.

For example, the Curt Hitch Ball # C40004 has a 2 inch diameter ball, a 1 inch diameter shank and a 6,000 pound gross trailer weight.
