Availability of Thule Big Mouth Longer Strap for Fat Tire Bikes

Question:

I have a Thule Big Mouth bike rack, which my 29+ bike fits on. Unfortunately the straps are about 1/2inch too short to reach around the tires/rims in order to strap them down. Does anyone make a slightly longer strap that fits the Thule Big Mouth rack that will handle a slightly larger wheel/tire combo?

I have a solution for you carrying your fat tire bike. Unfortunately, my contact at Thule told me that Thule does not make a wheel strap adapter for the Big Mouth rack to accommodate fat tire bikes.

Although the Big Mouth Roof Mounted Bike Rack wheel straps will fit most bike wheel and tire sizes, the larger fat bike tires are too large for the wheel straps to connect.

I recommend that you consider the Thule ProRide XT Roof Bike Rack For Fat Bikes, # TH598004-FB. The Thule ProRide XT is a frame mount carrier like the Thule Big Mouth. However, the ProRide Fat Bike Carrier includes extra long straps that will allow to accommodate fat bike tires up to to 5 inches wide. The pivot frame mount arm will fold down flush to the wheel tray when not ins use.
