Do the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport Use the Same Hitches and Wiring

Question:

Our 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe has the third row. Does it need the same hitch and wiring harness as the Santa Fe Sport?

The 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport use different trailer hitches. If you do NOT have a Sport model then you can use Curt trailer hitch # C13153. The Sport models use # C13152.

For the wiring the Sport and regular Santa Fe will use the same harnesses but which harness depends on if the vehicle has the factory tow package or not. The dealer should be able to tell you how the vehicle is equipped by looking up the VIN. If it does have the factory tow package then it is prewired for a harness and you can use # C56332. If it does not have the factory tow package you can use # C56184.

If you plan on doing some towing I recommend etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
