Way to Carry a 48 Pound Womens Beach Cruiser Bike on a 2016 Honda CR-V
Question:
Im trying to mount a 48lb Schwinn womens beach cruiser bike on a 2016 Honda CRV that does not have a trailer hitch. I see that the Saris Bones 2 Item # SA805BL bike rack has a 70 lb limit overall, but lists 35lb per bike. If I only mount this one 48lb bike to the rack, will that be a problem? If so, are there any options to mount this type of bicycle without a trailer hitch?

All of the trunk mount bike racks confirmed to fit your 2016 Honda CR-V, such as the Saris Bones # SA805BL, have a weight capacity of 35 pounds per bike. Even if you're carrying only one bike this will be an issue because the cradles of the rack are designed to only carry up to 35 pounds. It isn't a cumulative weight rating.
Your option to carry the beach cruiser is to install a trailer hitch receiver on the CR-V. A hitch mounted bike rack is a much better way to carry bikes because there's no contact with the vehicle, and the variety of bike racks, and other accessories, is much more broad.
The hitch I suggest is the Draw-Tite # 75742. I've linked an install video. It's a bolt-on application so there is no drilling.
Once you have the hitch the Saris Freedom # SA4412B is a great option for the cruiser. It holds the bike by the frame and is good at the non-traditional frame of most beach cruisers. It can also handle bikes up to 60 pounds each since cruisers tend to be on the heavy side.
