Is Rear Bar Detachable on Erickson Over-The-Cab Truck Bed Ladder Rack

Updated 04/21/2017 | Published 04/20/2017

Question:

I have a 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Megacab. I have several questions. 1 Is the rear bar detachable for tall loads in the bed? 2 Will this fit with my existing toolbox across the front of the bed? 3 How much wind noise is generated @ 70 mph?

The Erickson Over-The-Cab Truck Bed Ladder Rack # EM07707 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Megacab and is a great product that will provide you with 800 pounds of weight capacity.

The rear bar of the ladder rack serves to stabilize the rack's construction when it is installed, making it a non-removable part. If you will be hauling taller loads in your truck bed, you may be able to fit them between the rear bar and front bar so that they can clear the rack, which is 32-7/6 inches tall.

This particular ladder rack is compatible with both bed liners and toolboxes, so there should be no interference issues with your existing toolbox.

The rack does have a curved, aerodynamic design which is specifically constructed to reduce drag and wind noise. When driving highway speeds with the ladder rack installed on your Dodge Ram, you will probably know that it's there, but the rack should not generate a great deal of wind noise.

I have attached a video demonstration of this product for you to check out so you can get a better idea as to how it works and installs.
