Question:

Hello, I am trying to decide which Yakima rain gutter mount would work best for my application. I have a 2007 Hallmark UTE pop-up truck camper that I would like to put a Yakima rack on . I do not want to drill through the roof so will mount to the sides of the roof which is metal. The rack will need to be at least 86inch wide and hold two kayaks and a Yakima storage rack. Do you have an opinion on the thin rain gutter Y08002 vs Wide Body Mounting Brackets for Yakima 1A Raingutter Towers 8008001?

The wide body mounting brackets # Y08001 have a larger surface area in contact with the camper which makes them more stable especially for roof rack systems with very long bars like yours. Based on that I recommend going with the wide body option.

For a set of 4 Raingutter towers use # Y00101. The longest bars available are 86 inches long exactly, # Y00420. The towers will lean in towards the center of the truck camper some so that will help you to be able to properly set up this system.
