Can Mounting Brackets of Curt Hitch 13703 Mount to Outside of Trailer Frame

Updated 05/28/2026 | Published 04/12/2017

Question:

I have a I beam frame... can the mounting brackets go on the outside of the frame? I have a motorized rear stabilizer jacks that would prevent a inside mount.

I spoke with my contact at Curt about hitch # 13703 and he said that you can install the side brackets on the outside of an I-beam frame by turning them around. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you to view. The hitch can be bolted or welded on. If you choose to weld it on the welding should be done by a qualified professional.

You answered my question on flipping brackets, if i flip them they be less than 72" at 71-1/2" , but the question is I'm curious to what the length of the main bar is that slides and bolts or welds to the brackets? Thanks
