Recommended Brake Controller Wiring For 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

Question:

Im looking for a brake controller setup for my 2017 hyundai santa fe sport with towing package. Already have a 4 pin flat trailer wire installed. Is there a controller pig tail for my vehicle, to plug into a curt triflex? If not, is there one for any of your other brake controllers. Id like to stay under $100 with proportional braking and self leveling. I also need the 7 pole rv plug kit to install. Im assuming the universal kit 4 to 4 and 7 wiring kit would work well? Please include part numbers. Thank you

There is no brake controller harness on your 2017 Santa Fe so it will require some hardwiring.

First, you will need part # ETBC7. This plugs into the 4-way connector on your Santa Fe. You will then need to run the additional wires to complete the installation of the brake controller. I have attached a drawing that shows how the wiring is run for the # ETBC7 and the brake controller.

The Curt TriFlex Brake Controller, part # C51140 is a proportional controller that will apply the brakes on your trailer in direct proportion to the braking action of your Santa Fe.

When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
