Tire Replacement Recommendation for Trailer with P235/75R15

Published 04/06/2017

Question:

My 6x12 flatbed trailer has P235/75R15 tires on it now. I am considering st205/75R15 tires. Other than the overall diameter of the tire being smaller by about 2 inches I dont see any difference. Would there be any issues with this change?

You are doing the right thing whether you fully realize it by removing P rated tires and installing ST tires. P tires should only be used on passenger vehicles and ST for trailers. The tire will be a bit smaller in diameter but aside from that it won't really make any noticeable differences. If anything the trailer may ride better since it has the stiffer sidewall tires it needs.

A closer match in size though would be the ST225/75R15 which would probably be your best option. For that the Lionshead tire part # LHWL304 would be a great option as it's a radial tire with a higher speed rating of 75 mph.

This tire comes with complimentary roadside assistance for 2 years. If your RV or trailer has a flat tire, call the help line and a technician will come change the flat for you. You can call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year from anywhere in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico.
