Question:
I have a 2002 f350 short bed truck with a 6 3/4 ft bed. I want an extension for the pin box or a pin box replacement if possible to give me more clearance from the cab. I currently have a reese sliding hitch that is 16K. It will give me 8 inches more clearance in the maneuvering position. The center of the pin receiver is 35 inches from the cab in the towing position. The width of the 5th wheel is 102 inches. What is the best option for me? There is no sidewinder available for this pin box. The 22 inches of a sidewinder would have solved any clearance issues. Atwood AB-72 pin box on 92 Collins Astrea

The best option for you to increase the clearance needed to make turns with your 2002 Ford F-350 short bed truck would be to upgrade to a slider hitch that has a longer travel length.
The Demco Hijacker Autoslide Hitch, # DM8550034 with # DM8552006-71 Custom Installation Kit, is a 5th wheel hitch that has an auto slide design that will give you 14 inches of additional clearance for making tight turns. The Demco hitch is an Autoslide hitch that automatically engages when make your turns. You will not have to exit the cab of your truck to engage your slider every time you have to make a tight turn.
None of the pin boxes that will replace your Atwood AB-72 will give you enough additional clearance to allow you to make tight turns. Also, with no Sidewinder available for your pin box, the Demco hitch is your best option.
