Replacement Endcaps for Yakima ForkLift Roof Bike Racks

Question:

Hi I hope you can help as Yakima is in a meeting. Can you tell me if there is any physical difference between these two parts, especially where the cap interfaces the aluminum wheel tray rails on the Yakima Forklift? Thank you for checking. PS - I recently ordered a pair of the older style 8880140 and they dont clip in securely and so I may need to return these if I can even return the opened one for the newer style. But as far as I could tell the design is the same except for possibly a red logo in the back. Please advise. Thank you!

According to Yakima # Y8880188 is the correct end cap if your bike rack has the steel tray and # Y80140 is for models with the aluminum tray. But there is also a time line to take into consideration.

For units produced between October 2008 to June 2009 use replacement endcap part # Y80140. For units produced from June 2009 forward use replacement endcap part # Y8880188. Apparently the little tabs on the sides that hold them in the tray are not the same between the 2 parts.
