Hello neighbors, Steven here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at the replacement end cap for the Yakima Front Loader or forklift roof bike racks with steel wheel trays. So folks, again, this is just the replacement end cap for those two racks I mentioned. Ill throw a picture up real quick. The far left of that image is where this is going. The end cap, so again, this only works with the steel wheel tray, so the front loader and the forklift.
If your bike rack has an aluminum tray, you would need part number Y 80140 and you can test if yours is aluminum or metal by putting a magnet on it. And if it sticks to it, it's metal. And if it doesn't, it's aluminum. Now this is just gonna be one, quantity one replacement end cap. As you can see, it's highly molded plastic.
Nice firm, very sturdy. Again, very simple, but direct replacement from Yakima so you can ensure it's gonna fit the front loader and the forklift. Again, with the steel wheel trays. Folks, I'm Steven. Thanks so much for watching, have a great day.

The exact part I needed!
This was an exact replacement part for my Yakima FrontLoader after the original flew off my car after I didn't lock it into place. Arrived quickly; no issues!

It's the correct piece and fit perfectly but I silicon glued it in this time!

Also-- etrailer was recommended to me by Yakima which I love and have used for years so if Yakima recommends etrailer I knew they would be good and they were!! They got bike rack part even Yakima did not have in stock...
They don't say Yakima nor should you care. These little end caps fit exactly as they should no slop, no slip, all great.
Had someone not been a tool and "borrowed" both of mine (may they get a flat on a mountain top during a hail storm) at the trailhead I never would have been able to try these out.
Good luck to you I hope you never need these but, if you do they are the bomb.
It took over 5 months to deliver. That's pretty bad. The description leaves some doubt as to whether it is the correct part and since it is facing the back of the product, you cannot see the word "Yakima" painted on the front. In this case, it is the part I was hoping for, but I bought two (2) different parts because I was unsure which was correct.I can't tell the difference between this part (Item No. Y8880188) and this part: Item No. Y80140

I can see where the confusion between the two caps is coming from because they certainly resemble each other. The difference is that this part is meant for steel trays, while part # Y80140 is used with aluminum trays.
What to do, where to go when you lose a very important part of safety equipment. Thankfully, I found a perfect replacement end cap for my frontloader bike rack online for through ETRAILER Corp. Less than half the price and minimal shipping. Love this place.

Works Great
Not sure if this is authentic Yakima or a knockoff. Part did not fit well and does not have the Yakima logo on it like the end cap that came with the rack originally.
It looks great but it doesn't fit well. The plastic is too soft and the clips doesn't latch on to the rack. I was able to pull it out with little effort. I bent the clips out so that it would stay better; hopefully that will do the trick.
Did not fit my old Yakima forklift out of the box had to use a dremil and mallet to get it in but it's in and working
Once again etrailer.com had the replacement part I was looking for and sent it to me in a timely manner. I am really impressed.
Lost the end cap- this replacement worked. BYW, this one is exactly the same product as Item #Y80140 but it does not have the Yakima logo on it.

Still great one year later, no issues!
