Question:

I . I have a RnR 24foot enclosed snowmobile trailer with 12inch tires. I want to know if I could lower the axles to put 14inch tires on if I bought spacers and different axles. Right now I have the torsion Dexter axles that are each rated at 2500#. I am constantly putting new tires on the trailer with the set up I have. With the tow truck running 65 -75mph those little tires are wearing out

Most trailer tires are only rated for 65 mph so if you are exceeding that regularly they are going to get hot to the point of possible failure and start wearing out quicker.

The most common way to raise a trailer for additional clearance is to use an over under kit to move the axles to being under the leaf springs.

The diameter of your trailer axle will determine the size of the parts that you will need to order. If your axle is 3 inches diameter, the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit, # K71-385-00, would be a great choice and if your axle is 2-3/8 inch diameter you could use the Over-Under Kit, # K71-384-00. These kits can be installed without welding but the manufacturer strongly recommends having the new spring seat tacked in place on the other side of the trailer axle.
