How To Determine If Yakima Fullswing Bike Rack Will Clear Tailgate of Truck When Swung Out

Question:

Hi, I have a 2016 F150 and want to know if there is enough clearance to open my tailgate when the rack is swung out. When the tailgate is down I have 9inch of clearance between the receiver pin center line and the tailgate. Can you tell me how tall the rack is when sung out?

I spoke with my contact at Yakima and he gave me the dimension you asked for. He said that from the top of the shank of the Yakima FullSwing part # Y02465 to the top of the swingarm measures 8-1/2 inches. So basically you would need to measure from the top of your hitch opening up 8-1/2 inches to determine if your tailgate would be able to fold down without hitting the bike rack when it is swung out.
