Recommended Anti-Rattle Device For 2 Inch Hitch Receiver On 2005 Toyota Highlander

Question:
I recently purchased a trailer hitch from you for my 2005 Toyota Highlander. When I used it on its first trailer pull, I noticed a banging noise coming from the trailer. After investigating, I discovered that the trailer hitch fit loosely in the receiver which was causing the banging noise. I tried two other hitches in the receiver and they all fit loose. Am I suppose to be using some type of shim sheath that fits inside the receiver to fill the void. Please advise.

It is not uncommon to have a rattle or a little movement of the accessory within the hitch receiver. There are many options available to allow you to secure the hitch and quiet the noise. I recommend the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches - 2-5/8" Span # 63232. This will work on your ball mount as well as on many accessories. It secures the accessory to the hitch receiver on the inside and gives you a lock to secure your investment.
I've also linked the page to your anti-rattle options.
