Question:
I have a 1992 Coleman Destiny camper and the label plate has this information about the tires: 12 X 4 rims, 5.30 X 8 at 55 PSI. I am looking to replace the wheels and tires but I am having a hard time finding 5.30 X 8 tires. Is there another size that will work? I am looking to take this on a cross-country trip and the GVWR is listed as 1875. Thank you.

The tire size I think you have is 5.30-12, which fits on a wheel 12-inches in diameter and 4-inches wide. We do still offer this tire size and you can see all available products, both tires only and wheel/tire combination items, on the linked page.
In the wheel/tire category we offer two wheel bolt patterns with this size tire, the 4-on-4-inch pattern and the popular 5-on-4-1/2-inch bolt pattern. You can refer to the linked article for help in confirming which you have on your Coleman hubs.
We offer this tire size in three load ranges, B, C and D. I recommend using a load range that provides you with some safety margin, meaning tires that can handle more weight than you will put on them. A load range C or D tire will be appropriate.
The main cause for trailer tire failure is heat, and excess heat can occur from overloading a tire, from running it at too high a speed and from incorrect inflation pressure. Most trailer tires are rated for 65-mph and running them over their speed rating generates heat that can cause failure. Also, if a tire is under- or over-inflated it will not be able to deliver its rated weight carrying capacity and this incorrect inflation too will cause heat.
Some tires are rated at higher speeds up to 81 mph like the Taskmaster # TT53012C. But it would need to be purchased separately from the wheel and get mounted at a local shop.
