I would suggest the largest plate and fin transmission cooler that will fit on your vehicle to provide the most cooling.Transmission coolers are flow through devices so you can pretty much use any transmission cooler you want as long as it will fit in your vehicle. You cannot cool the transmission fluid too much so there is no worry of installing a cooler that is too large. The only precaution with a very large cooler is to let the engine warm a bit on bitterly cold days before taking off.
The most efficient place to install a transmission cooler is in front of the air conditioning condenser, so you will need to measure to determine which cooler will fit in the space available.
The Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13614, is the largest plate and fin cooler that we carry. It is 11 inches wide by 11-3/8 inches tall and 1-1/4 inches deep, and would be the cooler I would recommend for your MDX, especially if you plan on towing with the vehicle.
The next size cooler we have is the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13613, which is 11 inches wide by 8-7/8 inches tall and 1-1/4 inches deep.
We also have the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13612, which is the smallest cooler that I would recommend for your vehicle, at 11 inches wide by 6-3/8 inches tall by 1-1/4 inches deep.
We have some information put together and a video installation, see links, for you to review which will help you with your decision.
