Installation of Curt Class II Hitch C12013 on 2005 Toyota Matrix XR
Updated 02/27/2017 | Published 02/25/2017 >
Question:
Will the C12013 hitch fit a 2005 Toyota Matrix XR with AWD? If so, does it fit through the body kit or below it? If below, how much of the hitch is visible? Just the receiver or most of the framing as well?

Expert Reply:
Curt's 1-1/4-inch Class II round tube hitch # C12013 is a confirmed fit on the AWD 2005 Toyota Matrix XR and XRS and offers no-drill installation. The hitch will bolt to the bottom of the car's frame rails using the included hardware. Heat shield trimming may be required but no other mods are necessary; no fascia trimming is required.
We have not had a chance to photograph this hitch installed on your 2005 Matrix but at least the center portion of the main hitch cross tube will likely remain visible after installation.
