was wondering if #e98880 hitch receiver lock would fit the hitch on a 2005 chevy tahoe?

Yes, the etrailer.com Lock for 2 Inch Hitches, item # e98880, will fit the OEM 2 inch receiver on the 2005 Chevy Tahoe. This lock will fit any hitch with a receiver tube no wider than 2-5/8 inches.
The note on our product page applies to 2 inch hitches with bracing welded to the outside of the receiver like the Toyota Tundra. If your receiver is wider than 2-5/8 inches you will need the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, item # e98881, for your Tahoe.
