Can Butt Connectors Be Used in Place of Quick-Splice Connectors for Installing LED Trailer Lights

Question:

Running new LED lights for my mowing trailer. I have 4 side marker lights for each side. I hate scotch lock splices so my question is when I splice into my running light wire can I put both ends of the running light wire into one end of a waterproof butt connector and the wire from the side marker into the other end of the butt connector? Then do the same all the way down for each light to complete the circuit! I want everything to be waterproof but I dont wont to use a junction box or to solder anything! Your comments or suggestions would be most appreciated.

Yes, since all the running/clearance lights on your trailer will be fed by the same circuit you can use butt connectors rather than quick-splice connectors to enable a longer-lasting and more water-resistant connection. Wiring the lights as you described is fine.

I also suggest using dielectric grease # 11755 in/on all connectors to prevent entry of water and contaminants that could eventually cause connectivity issues.
