Does Demco Fifth Wheel Rail Kit for 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500 Position Hitch Jaws Above Rear Axle

Updated 01/02/2017 | Published 12/31/2016

Question:

2016 Silverado 2500HD 6.6 bed. In your hitch and mounting description it says the hitch should be mounted ahead of the rear axle center toward cab - then when slider is activated, it moves back 8 inches for more clearance. It is my understanding the frame specific mounting brackets use the existing holes in the truck frame e.g.,threaded or other for pull through to mount the brackets. Are those Chevy factory frame mounting holes designed to accommodate the position of the hitch ahead of the rear axle center? Based on your reply, does the same apply for hitches other than the Demco Hijacker e.g., Reese, Curt, etc. Meaning does other manufactures fabricate their specific frame brackets to allow for forward axle pin positioning. Thanks,

All of the custom fit fifth wheel rail kits we offer for your truck like the Demco Rail Kit part # DM8552011-71 will position the fifth wheel hitch jaws exactly where they need to be. Either directly above the rear axle or slightly forward of it.
