Question:

Ihave seen afill plate that covers the5th wheel tailgate and hitch cut out.It was placed on outside of tailgate with 4or5 bolts that went through the louvers and attached with plates and wingnuts. Looked like it would keep water out of bed when not towing. It does little good to have Truxedo cover if water comes infrom the tailgaate.

If you have the Stromberg-Carlson 4000 series 5th wheel tail gate for your 2008 Dodge Ram, # VGD-02-4000, then you could use insert # VI-4000 and louver insert kit # 4000-V. This will be the best option for closing up the 4000 series 5th wheel tail gates. If you have a different 5th wheel tail gate there are no options.
