Question:

I have an older Thule Universal Flat Top Ski/Snowboard Car Roof Rack Carrier 853-2805 and need mounts that are larger than the originals. I have read your other Q and A, and youve said that the 753-3998 mounts measure up to 3 3/4inch wide and 1inch tall, and my crossbars are pushing that limit. Just wondering if you have heard from anybody definitively that says the mounts will fit onto Nissan Xterra factory crossbars in my case, 2010 or not. Thank you.

Replacement hardware # 7533998 is similar to the hardware that is on the newer Pull Top Thule ski carrier (it just attaches to the body of the carrier differently) and fits the same bar size. Thule lists that newer Pull Top as a fit for the factory Nissan crossbars so that would mean that hardware # 7533998 will also fit.

The worst case scenario is that you will need slightly longer bolts but it doesn't appear that will be necessary. If it is you could use # 919611054 sold in quantities of 1. This screw is about twice the length of the ones included with # 7533998. However, they are not the tamper proof style.

Hi. I also have an older Thule Universal Flat Top Ski/Snowboard Car Roof Rack Carrier 853-2805 Would the Speedlink attachment be compatible for this rack? Thanks.

@Paul No, I am sorry as the Speedlink hardware would not work with the older Flat top carrier. I wish there was a way to upgrade the mounting hardware for those older carriers but Thule has had a few generations of ski carriers and the mounting hardware is rarely compatible between them.
