Question:
I am looking for wiring for the 9 pin Pollak connectors that is recoil wiring. We want to use the wiring between our tractors and trailers and the wiring needs to be the recoil type so it can stretch when we make turns without breaking. Do they make such wiring?

Expert Reply:
We do offer the 9-Way vehicle and trailer plugs, but we do not offer a pre-made wiring harness that would plug between your tractor and trailer. We do not offer any bonded, coiled wiring, but we do offer various wire styles by the foot. If you could locate the appropriate length of coiled wiring, you could create your own harness using vehicle end # PK12907 and trailer end # PK12906.
The recommended wire colors and sizes for a 9-Way connector would be:
White - Ground Return - 8 gauge
Blue - Electric Brakes - 12 gauge
Green - Tail, License and Running Lights - 14 gauge
Black - Battery Charge - 8 gauge
Red - Stop and Left-Hand Turn Signal - 14 gauge
Brown - Stop and Right-Hand Turn Signal - 14 gauge
Yellow - Back-up, Auxiliary Ground or Circuit - 14 gauge
Gray - Auxiliary Circuit - 12 gauge
Orange - Reefer (tag) or Stop - 14 gauge
I am including a link to all the wire and wire accessories we offer, as well as some additional information on wiring that should be helpful.
