Can Trailer Tail Lights Be Mounted Upside Down So License Plate Can Be Above Lights
Updated 10/25/2016 | Published 10/24/2016 >
Question:
On my trailer my license plate needs to be above my tail lights, or else it will drag on the ground. Is there any reason that I can not turn these upside down and swap them left for right so I can run the license plate on the right side above the tail light? If that does not work, what would you suggest for LED tail lights? Although my trailer is over 80inch wide, I do not need the side marker function because I have separate side marker lights. Currently I have round incandescent lights without side markers and the license plate light facing up on the left, but I would like to switch to LEDs.

The Optronics LED Trailer Tail Light # STL9RB can be mounted however you would like. So there's nothing that will prevent the light from working. However, I would suggest checking with the DOT in your area to make sure that there aren't any laws against it.
