You can certainly pick up the hardware only for your hitch. You will use the replacement hardware kit for trailer hitches # RHK. Just enter your Hitch # C13386 on the # RHK product page and the hardware that you need for your 2014 Ford Explorer will be shipped promptly. I have attached an installation video as well.
If you plan on towing, you'll want to grab a wiring harness and ball mount set-up.
For a vehicle without a tow package use wiring harness # C56172 or install # C56278 if your vehicle has a tow package.
I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and convenient storage bag. If the ball mounts in the kit do not have the correct rise or drop for towing your trailer level, then click on the attached link that explains how to measure and choose the correct ball mount for your specific application.
