I have a solution for you to install a gooseneck hitch in your 2005 GMC Sierra that has a stepside bed, but Curt does not have any fits for this bed style like you mentioned.
The B and W gooseneck hitch part # BWGNRK1059 has been confirmed as a fit for your truck and will fit with the stepside.
