What is the Backspacing of Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10 Inch Wheel, # AM3H340
Updated 10/13/2010 | Published 10/12/2010 >
Question:
Is the backspacing of this wheel AM3H340, similar to that of a 4.80-12 tire on a 12x4 rim? Id like to move from the twelve to the 205/65-10. Its on a Harbor freight 4x8 trailer. Thanks! BTW I just measured the 12 wheel I have and found it to be 2 1/4 from the mounting face side to a ruler laid across the outer most edges of the wheel.

The Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10 Inch Wheel, # AM3H340, has a zero offset which makes the backspacing 3-1/2 inches. This tire and wheel will be an inch further in towards the trailer than your current tire and wheel. You will need to make sure the trailer can support this size by checking to see if there is enough clearance so the tire does not rub against any part of the trailer frame.
Also, just so you are aware, there will also be a difference in the capacity between the two tire sizes. The AM3H340 tire is rated at 910 pounds maximum load at 35 psi.
A 4.80-12 tire at a C load range, is rated at 990 pounds maximum load at 90 psi, or load range B is rated at 785 pounds maximum load at 60 psi.
