The bottom of the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch, item # 24767, will sit about 2-3/4 to 3 inches below the rear bumper on your vehicle. This dimension is a best guess for your vehicle because there is not a set dimension for the amount of extension below the bumper on your 2008 Cadillac CTS. Too many variables account for the final placement of the hitch receiver, such as the hitch itself, the vehicle frame and the vehicles rear bumper and fascia orientation on the vehicle. I based my figure on the fact that the receiver tube is 1-3/4 inches outside diameter, it has chain loops welded underneath, and will have approximately 1 inch of clearance under the rear fascia.
The instructions for this hitch (see link) show a drawing in the upper right hand corner that gives you a good idea of how low the receiver will be when the hitch installation is complete. We also have a video (see link) that shows the hitch being installed on a 2004 model of your Cadillac CTS.
