Does the drain trap hook up to the basket strainer . Does this obsolete the p trap

The Camco RV Drain Trap part # CAM37262 that you referenced attaches directly to the sink. If would replace any style of trap that you have installed currently.
You could use a basket strainer with this as long as it would fit it's 1-3/4 inch diameter.
