You chose vanlife to feel alive, not suffocate in your rig. After a summit push or sunbaked trail, a cold drink and cool air hits different. This under-bench AC chills your rig without shore power and keeps the roof free for solar or other gear.
If you've spent a summer night in a small rig, you already know heat sinks into every surface. After a long hike or a desert drive, stepping inside feels like opening an oven. This 8,500 Btu under-bench AC gives you a way to actually cool down without relying on campground hookups or rooftop units that steal space from your solar layout.
The unit runs on 48V DC, pulling power directly from your battery bank instead of an inverter. That's a win for efficiency, but it still follows the rules of physics: air conditioning takes energy. For reliable cooling, pair it with a solid lithium bank and a way to recharge daily, like rooftop solar, alternator charging, or a generator. The better your battery setup, the longer you can run it through the heat.
The unit pulls 10 - 18 amps depending on mode. That means your battery capacity determines your nightly comfort. As a guideline:
Your roof is premium real estate. Solar panels, gear mounts, storage pods. There's never enough room. This AC hides under a bunk, cabinet, or bench, so the top of your rig stays exactly how you designed it. If you're running flexible solar or planning future upgrades, keeping your roof clear matters more than you think.
Under-bench systems also avoid cutting into the roof, which helps with insulation and stealth camping. If you're working with a small van, micro-camper, or compact overland trailer, the 2000U's footprint fits the layouts most rooftop units don't.
Ducted can be misleading if you're used to traditional RV systems. If your rig's already set up with ductwork, this unit ties right in to keep air moving evenly from front to back. But if not, it's no problem. You don't need built-in ducts for this AC. It comes with the ducting hardware to route cool air exactly where you want it. Aim a vent at your bed, your workspace, or the dog's corner to keep your layout comfortable without cold spots.
Small rigs amplify every sound, so the 2000U leans on a brushless fan and a twin-rotor compressor to keep things calm. Eco mode settles into a soft background hum that feels like light rain on a roof. Boost mode tops out around 60 decibels, more like a quiet TV in the next room than a roaring appliance. You get steady cooling without losing the peace you hunted for all day.
You can fine-tune the temperature however you want. Use the buttons on the unit, the included remote, or an interior wall panel if you prefer a fixed spot for controls. So, if you're stretched out in bed or moving around the cabin, it stays easy to adjust the system and settle into the mode that fits your night.

Hi, everyone. Steve here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at our VELIT 2000U Under-Bench RV AC with included remote. It's a 10,000 BTU unit, runs on 48 volts of DC power and it's a black color complete system. So folks, I do wanna throw open an image real quick of what this all kind of looks like when it's loosely fit together, installed. Keep in mind, it would be a little bit different depending on where you run your duct work, those kind of things.
Now, this traditional, or rather traditional 110-volt AC, they're just not gonna cut it for the off-grid life. So you don't want to have to use a huge inverter, a soft start and those kind of things. And even when you have all that, your battery time is gonna be very limited. So this AC unit and this complete kit, you're gonna skip all that. It's gonna work directly off your DC power with a high efficiently twin rotor compressor inside here.
It's gonna keep the cool air flowing throughout and flowing without burning up your camper van's battery. So very nice, energy efficient. It's literally so quiet, it's like no more than a hum. Maybe as loud as like light rain hitting the rooftop on a camper roof or a van roof, something like that. So it's actually pretty quiet.
I'm impressed with how quiet it is. Unfortunately, I don't have a way of powering it up for you today, but I was outside with the installers when they we inchesre doing some of these for training and I'm very impressed with how quiet this is. So whether you're parked in the desert, deep in the woods or up in the mountains, it's gonna be keeping things nice and comfy for much longer time, which means you're not gonna cut your trip short due to running out of power and those kind of things. So 10,000 BTUs of power, it's very efficient. It's gonna cool, maybe like a Class B camper van, trailer, overlanding vehicles, those kind of things.
And again, it's gonna keep your roof free, give you some extra space for more solar panels, those kind of things. This would mount under a bench seat or a bunk or anything like that. And again, the built-in twin rotor compressor keeps energy use low and keeps it quiet as well with that brushless fan. Now, you have three ways to adjust the temperature and those kind of things, the settings. You have a remote, you have an external box here, thermostat and everything, control unit. And excuse me here, so I don't drop this. You have an onboard display control on the unit itself. So before I drop this, lemme go ahead and get 'em off the table. So this is gonna be your exhaust and it's a long hose with all the hose clamps. And then you also have an intake and those will be hooked on the back and I'll get to them in a second. Lemme go ahead and get these all off the table so I can spin this around and show you. And these are gonna be your main duct work here and those vents open and close just like inside of your car, your vehicle. Lemme go ahead and show you one of those up close. So you can rotate that closed, pop it open, and again, you can even spin that way if you want to point it in different directions and those kind of things. So very nice. Those connect up here with included hose clamps. And if you don't want 'em running out the front, you have two pop outs here. You can change where you want them. Just follow the instructions. Right here, you got a drain hose. They just pop 'em in there for shipping and you're gonna get an included elbow and some other hardware mounting brackets and stuff. And I'll show you those here in a second as well. But I wanna go ahead and do some dimensions real quick. Overall height, 12 and 3/8 inches tall. Overall width, 16 and 1/4 wide. Overall length or depth, depending on how you're installing it, is 23 and 3/4 inches long. Now that being said, keep in mind, I did not include the pop-out here for the duct. It's about, oh, I'd say a 1/4 inch pop out. Same thing on the back on these larger hookups. These are more like an 1/8 of an inch pop-out. They're not as bad as the front. So again, you have your exhaust and your intake. They are labeled. You have your main wire connection. So it's about as big as like a winch cable connection. That's what I always tell people. And they give you a nice length of cord here, 6-feet of cord. And of course, you got all the connectors and everything inside there. I'm gonna set that aside as well. So they didn't go cheap on anything, folks. In my opinion, everything here is top quality. They really went over and above, giving you the quality you need. Some cable ties, some brackets, and of course, all your screws, hardware, some more cable ties an elbow there for maybe your drain hose. And those brackets and everything, you can kind of see one metal piece here. So just follow instructions as far as mounting those. Real quick, you got four of these straps on the top. They use these quick buckles. You can pop them all off and they'd be able to take the top off of the base and take everything out if you need maintenance, repairs, those kind of things. Going back to the front. Once again, you have your display screen and all that. And again, you also have a nice box and wiring here as well. Again, along with your remote for adjusting the temperature and everything on the fly. So again, folks, nice quiet unit. This is the VELIT 2000U 10,000 BTU. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.
