Yes you will need a T-Connector Wiring Harness with a 4 Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56027 to connect to a 7-way. If you're planning to use a brake controller with your Traverse you will need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way and 4-Way Flat # ETBC7. This will be all of the wiring you'll need for the brake controller.
I've included an installation video of the wiring on a 2011 Traverse which will be very similar to
yours.
If you don't have a trailer hitch already, a compatible hitch for your Traverse is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Class III # 75528 and Ball Mount Kit # 989900. Included with the ball mount kit is two ball mounts with different rises and drops, two hitch balls, pins and a carrying bag for all of it.
I've also attached a couple of Help Articles that may be useful to you.
