Question:
Hello, I am in the process of getting my 06 Honda Element EX-P wired for towing a trailer. I am a little confused as to exactly what I need to do because most of the videos and recommendations for the 06 Element say to use a kit that splices into the wiring in the rear of the vehicle however, my car has a port already installed in the spare tire compartment that is the same kind necessary for the flat bar connector included in the 2007-2011 T-one kit. The female piece that is shown in installation videos under the steering wheel looks very similar in my car to the ones shown, but I am not sure it is identical. I have a picture of it that I could send via email if you could possibly assess if it is the necessary component. Thank you!

I called my contact at our supplier and asked about your 2006 Element. There may have been a change when the car was manufactured and the trailer wiring was added to your vehicle but we really have no way of knowing.
Our records indicate the trailer wiring harness for your Element is a hardwire installation. For that you would want part # C59496.
If you wish to try installing the T-One Harness, part # 118465 it may work just fine. We cannot guarantee this will work because it does not match our fit guide form the manufacturers. Please be aware if you open the package and it does not work this harness cannot be returned.
As far as the wiring connector you found under the dash on your Element if it looks like the mate for the attached photo connector you may have the wiring for a trailer connector that is found on the 2007 model.
