Question:
Hello Can you please tell me if the Derale Transmission coolers have a low temperature bypass in them and are they stacked plate? Thank You

Expert Reply:
Derale Transmission Coolers don't offer the bypass feature, but they do offer a bypass oil filter sandwich adapter for their oil coolers. The sandwich adapter has an internal thermostat that allows the oil to bypass the cooler when it reaches temperatures below 180 degrees.
They do indeed offer highly efficient stacked-plate heat exchangers suitable for oil or transmission fluid cooling. For a stacked-plate transmission cooler, I'd recommend part # D13403. You'd also need the # D13035 fitting to make the connection at the point where the transmission line connects to the radiator.
For an stacked-plate oil cooler kit, use # D15602 along with the # D15720 thermostatic sandwich adapter.
