Recommended Suspension Enhancement For 2012 Ram 1500 With Leveling Kit

Updated 06/22/2016 | Published 06/21/2016

Question:

Im looking to reduce the rear end sag on my RAM 1500 when towing my 9000 pound travel trailer. I already use a Reese Trunnion Bar Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w Sway Control, but there are times when the hitch is just a nuisance such as during backing and around tight turns in campgrounds. Not to mention that in general it is under so much tension that quite franky it scares the heck out of me. Can these springs be used in conjunction with a leveling kit? My RAM 1500 already has a 2inch Front and 1½inch rear leveler installed. Should both front and rear springs be upgraded at the same time, or is it OK to upgrade just the rear?

Helpful Expert Reply:

You can install suspension enhancement on just the rear of your Ram.

The SuperCoils Custom Rear-End Suspension Coils, part # SSC-50 are designed to fit your truck and will help reduce rear end sag when towing heavy items. These will also raise the back of the vehicle 3/4 inch. These are designed to replace the rear coils on your truck.

The easiest to install and use suspension enhancement is the Timbren, part # TDR1500DQ. These simply replace the bump stops installed on your truck.

In order to compensate for the 1-1/2 inch lift kit you said you have on your truck you will need to purchase a 1-inch spacer like part # A25723-90AH00.
