A transmission cooler is exactly what you need to keep the transmission fluid at an ideal temperature which is below 200 degrees. Ideally, you'll want to get the largest cooler that will fit into the available space. The best spot to install a cooler is directly behind the front grille, in front of the radiator and the a/c condenser. The Derale # D13504 would be ideal if you have enough room to accommodate its 11 inch wide by 12 inch tall size.
The cooler would tap into the return line from the radiator to the transmission using a # D13035 fitting. If you click the provide link, you can see an install video. As you see in the video, you'll need an extra bit of hose, part # D13003.
