Is a Metal Valve Stem Going to Help Prevent Valve Stem Failure

Published 06/15/2016

Question:

I have a Heartland Sundance 35foot Travel Trailer with ST225/75R15 tires. Would it be beneficial to have metal valve stems installed? If so what type would you suggest? I also have a 2004 F250 Super Duty. I experienced 2 flat tires this past weekend due to valve stem failures. I had 70psi in each tire, Firestones fault. installed new in Aug 15 and they didnt change out stems. What would be the best Valve Stems for my tires? I have Firestone ATs

Going to a heavier duty valve stem certainly wouldn't hurt. The best way to prevent failure though is to be sure to use the proper air pressure in the tire. You would need to know the diameter of your rim where the valve stem goes through to be able to pick out the correct one.

If that dimension is .625 inch then you would want the part # AM20906. This is the only metal one we carry.
