Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2006 Nissan Altima 2.5S

Updated 06/13/2016 | Published 06/11/2016

Question:

Is it an option to pull a trailer to transport a small riding mower? Is clearance an issue with the low plastic bumper? What height will the hitch end up being? Will it require a certain trailer tongue height? Tx,

For your 2006 Nissan Altima we have trailer hitches available that will allow you to tow a small trailer. The Curt Class 1 Hitch # C11264 will be a great option that is confirmed as a fit. Since this is a Class I hitch you have to use the recommended ball mount part # 3592.

For a 2 inch ball you would want the part # 19258 or for a 1-7/8 inch ball part # 19256.

For trailer wiring you will want the # C59496 which I attached an install video that shows the harness being installed on a 2006 Altima just like yours.

From the top of the hitch opening down to the ground with the Draw Tite hitch installed will measure 10 inches. The ball mount that is recommended has to be used in the rise position which will give it 2-1/8 inches of rise above the 10 inch hitch height.

You will need to consider the towing capacities for your vehicle that are listed in the owners manual and be sure not to exceed this figure with the weight of your trailer and mower.
