Using the tow bar and base plate system should end up being less expensive than purchasing a tow dolly, but I can say that the tow dolly set up would require less pieces to get the PT Cruiser on the road behind your RV. If you are considering the tow dolly option, we do offer one tow dolly by Roadmaster, part # RM-2000-1.

To equip your 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser to be towed with a tow bar, you will first need to install base plate kit # 278-1. You can use receiver inserts, part # RM-200-5, to cover the base plate receiver holes and give a clean look when the vehicle is not being towed.

I would recommend tail light isolating diode kit # 38955 to wire the vehicle, but this would utilize your vehicle's red brake lights for the brake and tail light functions, as well as the turn signal function. From my research, it looks like your PT Cruiser should have separate, amber turn signals. If you want the amber turn signals to function separate from the red light, you would also need tail light converter # 118158 and two extra diodes, part # RM-792.

A good tow bar for your application would be the Roadmaster Falcon 2, part # RM-520. This tow bar is non-binding, so it will be easy to hook up, and it even folds up to the back of the RV for storage when not in use.

To utilize the brakes on the PT Cruiser while towing, the Roadmaster portable braking system # RM-9400 would be easy to use and install.

There are also a few accessories that are typically included in a tow bar set up. Safety cables, part # RM-643, would be a good addition. I would also recommend the Roadmaster release tool # RM-066, to easily unlock the Falcon 2 bars when disconnecting the vehicle.
