How to Rewire a 7-Way that Got Ripped Off From Trailer
Updated 06/01/2016 | Published 05/31/2016 >
Question:
I recently ripped out the plug from 2013 palomino puma 5th wheel camper I bought a new installed it. Now when its connected to my truck it will not show on the brake controller that it is connected. When I activated the brake control it locked the brakes on the camper. I disconnected everything and the brakes will not release. I thought I hooked everything back like it was supposed to be. Is there a diagram that shows what wires go where I have yellow on the cord that is not used and black wire on the camper that wasnt connected to anything.

I have done the same thing with trailer 7-ways. I thought I had disconnected everything but drove off and ripped off the 7-way from the trailer. It took me a couple times of this happening for me to really start making sure I had disconnected everything.
What you will first need to do is determine the function of each of the wires on your trailer and then wire it to the 7-way using the diagram I attached as a reference.
To determine the function of each wire will require you to either trace each wire to see where it goes or run a jumper wire from a 12 volt battery to each to see what activates. If you see a spark that would mean you have found the ground! But typically this wire is white and runs to the trailer frame near the coupler.
