Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2016 Lexus RX 350 without Factory Tow Package

Question:
My 2016 Lexus RX 350 no power at the wiring harness trailer plug in. I do not have the tow package. I took vehicle to Dealer. Dealer says 2016 models require tow package for power and tow package must be factory installed. This was not a problem with my 2012 Lexus RX 350 that also did not have a tow package. Can you help?

All of the wiring harnesses currently available for the 2016 Lexus RX 350 require that the vehicle have the factory tow package but there is an alternative. You could use a universal wiring harness # 119250KIT. This harness has clamp connectors that clamp around the vehicle tail light wiring and sense the current passing through them. This means you will not have to cut and splice into the vehicle wiring! This harness does require a connection to the vehicle battery. I have linked a help article on routing the power wire that will help.
