Why Would Flex Air Pin Box Cause Trailer to Sit Nose High
Updated 05/12/2016 | Published 05/10/2016 >
Question:
Our local dealer just installed a new Flex Air pin box on our fifth wheel. Instead of making our ride smoother, the opposite occurred. When we got home, I checked the level and sure enough, the new pin box is causing our trailer to be slightly nose high. I dont see anyway to lower our BandW Companion hitch to level the trailer. What else can be done? Im thinking of having the dealer remove the hitch. After spending over $1400 for the pin box and install, Im very unhappy that instead of making towing better, it has made towing worse.

Most likely the dealer installed the FlexAir in the lower set of bolts on your trailer which is causing the trailer to now sit too high.
What you will need to do is unbolt the pin box and then install it in the higher bolt holes on the trailer. This will allow the trailer nose to lower which will improve your ride quality. You might have the dealer do the work since they are the ones who installed in the wrong holes.
They other thing you can check is to make sure the bag isn't over-inflated. Check out the picture I attached. Do you see the yellow sticker on the shock? Make sure that when your trailer is conneted that the "inflate to this point" is where it needs to be. It could be that the dealer over-inflated the bag and the pin box is now too tall and stiff.
